$1200 to Win Pony Special Tops Cleveland Card CLEVELAND, Tenn. (Aug 6) The Inaugural Elliott’s Used Cars/L&S Used Cars Stacey McAlister Memorial for Pony cars will top the racing card at Cleveland Speedway on Saturday August 9. The McAlister Memorial will pay $1,200 to the winner.
Stacey McAlister was a Pony driver who lost his life in a freak accident in the pits at Cleveland Speedway about 10 years ago. He was riding on a trailer when it hit a bump and he was bounced off and injured. Stacey passed away a number of weeks after the accident from complications resulting from his injuries.
Freddy Hyde came to me with the idea for the memorial race. Elliotts Used Cars, L&S Motors, Rocky Top Carriers and Doss Motors got involved and we have the 1st Annual Stacey McAlister Memorial Pony Race paying $1,200 to win,” said Cleveland Speedway Owner and Promoter Monty Morrow. “I can’t say enough about the area businesses, the fans and the teams that support Cleveland Speedway. Without everyone’s support we couldn’t do what we do.”
Supporting the McAlister Memorial event will be the Late Models, Limited Late Models, A&B Hobby and Front Runners. Pits will open at 4 pm and the grandstands at 5pm and racing will start at 7:30. Adult grandstand tickets are $15, kids 6-11 are $3 and under six are free. The pits will be $25.
Coming up on Saturday August 16, The Top Tracks Challenge Crate Series will take center stage. There will also be racing in Late Models, A&B Hobby, Pony and Front Runners.
